Mortgage Underwriter Level 1

Details: Classification:  Mortgage Underwriter Compensation:  $40,000.00 to $42,000.00 per year Accountemps is filling immediate needs for direct hire level 1 Mortgage Underwriters. Qualified candidates will be asked to handle the following job duties:Level 1 Underwriters will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting routine individual consumer requests and products with few deviations and within company and industry guidelines. Dependent on division, functions may include reviewing credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, financial statements, and or other supporting documentation to recommend/approve requests within decisioning authority levels by way of automated scoring system or traditional underwriting; assisting with the calculations and preparation of reports for review; responding to customer inquiries and credit decisions; ensuring credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards; contacting customers and partners to gather information to make appropriate decisions, explain rationale behind credit decisions, and/or to sell/promote line products. Minimum Qualifications: •At least 2 years mortgage experience in processing/closing/underwriting/origination •Familiar with income/asset/credit/collateral documentation •Demonstrated customer communication skills - both internal and external •Ability to multi-task and independently research problems/questions •Intermediate computer proficiency This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and compliance policies related to these requirements including acceptable background check investigation results. Mortgage Underwriter

Details: Division: Mortgage FlsaStatus: Non-Exempt EmploymentType: Regular GENERAL FUNCTION: Performs a wide range of duties related to the underwriting of residential mortgages. Renders an underwriting decision and subsequent clearing conditions to ensure credit guidelines are met. Proactive in communicating the decision to the Loan Originator, as well as serving as a resource to Residential Mortgage personnel on any underwriting questions. Assists in training new hires. Functions as escalation point for decisions requiring higher authority or unique problem solving to make the loan work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Utilize systems in place, including automated underwriting to underwrite files in a timely manner. * Underwrite conventional and portfolio loans, in addition to assisting in FHA/VA loans, until such delegation is provided. * Manage expected service levels related to decision and condition clearing. * Update information on processing and underwriting systems to verify, add, delete or waive conditions. * Contact Loan Originators with the decision on the loan immediately after underwriting the file. * Provide feedback to other staff and loan officers. * Demonstrate leadership skills as a team player by providing superior customer service, being flexible and approachable. * Responsible for appropriate section of HMDA Worksheet. * Review exception reports to ensure completion of all tasks. * Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company policies and procedures, in addition to private investors, government investors and portfolio Credit Policy and Guidelines.
